The route to promotion has now been set out. Malaga will start what they hope will be a successful return to La Liga with a trip to the Ángel Carro in Lugo on the weekend of 18 and 19 August after the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced next season's fixtures on Tuesday.
Juan Ramón Muñiz's side, on paper at least, have a favourable start to their Segunda campaign with Alcorcón the first visitors to La Rosaleda. Following that is a trip to Almería, before back-to-back home games against Tenerife and Cordoba ahead of a trip to Las Palmas.
The fixtures see Malaga host big boys Real Zaragoza on the 40th matchday, which could be a decisive fixture in the outcome of the season. They then travel to Albacete before a final-day clash against Elche.
This year, it must be pointed out, the fixtures are not 'symmetrical'. Rather than the second half of the season seeing the reverse of the first, fixtures this year are random.
