Movement may be slow, but things are showing signs of coming together behind the scenes at Malaga CF as a busy week approaches. This week the club announced a number of preseason friendlies.
Monday 16th. Nottingham Forest, at the Marbella Football Center.
Saturday 4 August. Antequera, at El Maulí.
Wednesday 8 August. Mallorca, at the Marbella municipal stadium.
Saturday 11 August. Trofeo Costa del Sol, opponents not yet confirmed.
The first will see the Blue and Whites take on English Championship side Nottingham Forest at the Marbella Football Center on 16 July - the only friendly so far confirmed this month.
There will be further fixtures against Antequera, at their home ground El Maulí on 4 August; Mallorca will be the opposition at the Marbella municipal stadium on 8 August; and on 11 August, the 'new Malaga' will be presented to fans for the first time at the Trofeo Costa del Sol. The opposition for the latter has not yet been confirmed, nor have kickoff times for any of the games.
This delay in scheduling can be put down to new coach Juan Ramón Muñiz deciding that he wanted preseason to take place on home soil. The initial plan was to head to central Europe for a training camp and a series of friendlies, but this appears to have been cancelled or, at least, delayed.
