He was once hailed as the future of Malaga, but now the club's future may hang on shipping out the Venezuelan midfielder. Juanpi is on the market, but moving him on is not going to be easy.
He is one of three players, alongside Federico Ricca and Michael Santos whose salary will not be halved when relegation is confirmed. However, the problem goes beyond this. The club renewed his contract to ward off potential suitors at a time when he started to break through into the first team. However, his value has dropped significantly since then and he is far down the pecking order at present, yet he will be the second top earner next year on around two million euros.
The club is actively looking for buyers given the player's reluctance to consider new terms.
