Marbella's narrow victory in Sunday's derby against Betis B came down to luck. The home side played with confidence and chemistry, which was rewarded by a goal from Juanfran. However, in the second half they were not the superior side; they simply benefitted from superior numbers after Nacho was sent off in the 53rd minute.

Betis also suffered from poor refereeing when a shot, which clearly crossed the line, was not given. This had a huge effect on the rest of the match.

In the first half at the Municipal stadium, Marbellas Álex Bernal and Sergio Narváez were the star men, providing great support for Añón and Javi Moreno. They opened up the field, with Peris on the left wing and Corpas on the right, and Betis were often made to look vulnerable.

The hosts got the breakthrough after 17 minutes when Bernal split the Betis back line with a perfect pass to Juanfran, who slotted the ball underneath Pedro López .

The home side remained dominant during the first half, with a header from Javi Moreno saved at full stretch by the keeper from a Juanfran corner.

Abreu came very close to scoring for Betis with a low curling shot, but Wilfred managed to stop the ball nestling in the back of the net.

Betis B came out after half time with renewed energy. After 51 minutes, a low cross from Redru took a nick off a Marbella defender before squirming through the legs of Wilfred and across the line, as replays on Andalucía Televisión confirmed. However, the keeper scooped the ball out of the goal and the referee allowed play to continue, much to the annoyance of the visitors coach José Juan Romero who was sent to the stands and midfielder Nacho who saw red after two minutes of delays.

With the numerical advantage, Marbella were able to see out the rest of the match without having to commit too many men forward.

Following the win, Marbella remain two points ahead of Cartagena at the top of Group IV of Segunda B. Their next match is against Lorca Deportiva on Sunday.
