Two-time Malaga head coach Juan Ramón Muñiz is believed to be the stand-out candidate for the Malaga hot seat next season.

The 49-year-old was recently fired by Levante who employed him on the recommendation of current Malaga sporting director Mario Husillos who is still a big fan of the way he organises teams, but especially his knowledge of the second tier.

However, with current coach José González contracted for another year should he keep the side up, Muñiz would not be drawn on the speculation: “It would be disrespectful for me to talk about the situation while there are games still to be played and a manager is in place."
