“I'm not going to resign but I couldn't complain if I was sacked”

Malaga head coach José González was very pessimistic in his post-match press conference, saying that he would have to have “a serious word” with his players following a performace he described as “the worst of my eight games in charge”.

González took the blame for the poor conditioning of his players, especially in the second half, but couldn't excuse the lack of quality on the field: “In the first 20 minutes we didn't create a single positive move.”

When asked if he would resign, the coach responded: “If you knew me at all, you'd know I couldn't stand aside with this record against my name. I'm not going to resign but I couldn't blame them if they sacked me.”
