  • The 300 participants in the Centro Plaza fun run defied the rain to raise money for the homeless

The rain didn't dampen the spirits of those taking part in the Centro Plaza fun run in Marbella on Sunday, the proceeds of which will go to the Red Cross. The rain started almost at the same time as the race, now in its third year.

The athletes, many of whom were members of athletics and triathlon clubs in both Marbella and San Pedro, put on a brave face in spite of the adverse weather conditions, putting their commitment to the charity before personal discomfort.

The strongest runners covered a distance of eight kilometres, from the Hotel Pyr Puerto Banús to the Centro Plaza Shopping Centre.

The money raised from the event will help support the Intemperie programme, which aims to assist homeless people.
