Trocadero Marbella ended a run of poor form last Sunday with a resounding victory over Alcobendas B at Bahia's Park.

The local team had gone two months without celebrating a victory, but on Sunday an excellent display from the squad secured an emphatic win in very muddy conditions.

Marbella played as a team throughout the whole game and faced up well to the challenge posed by an eager Sanitas Alcobendas, playing well both offensively and defensively under an intense rain that lasted throughout the whole match.

The hosts had excellent distribution, came forward in strong lines, made use of overlaps well, and attacked sufficiently to make anyone who had doubted them think twice.

It was clear that the team had worked hard in training.

Their attacking fluidity meant that Salvador Almeida's side were 8-0 up by the quarter-hour mark, due to a penalty kick and a try from Lupi Rinero and Santi Tamargo, respectively.

Their dominance was contested by their opponents who took advantage of an intercepted pass in order to make the score 8-5.

Without giving their Madrid rivals time to celebrate, Marbella had soon pushed up to their opponent's tryline.

Their efforts were rewarded by a brilliant try from Óscar Cruz, who was named man of the match.

Rinero converted with a spectacular kick and the local team were 15-5 ahead.

However, despite Marbella's well-deserved lead, Alcobendas managed to score a try and convert it before the break, and the teams went into halftime at 15-12.

However, this hard-fought half contrasted greatly with the second, in which Marbella didn't concede a single point.

Kike González was particularly effective thanks to his speed, and excellent attacking displays from Tamargo and Riner helped seal the win.

There was a large crowd gathered despite the weather, with Marbella fans entertained and inspired by their team's performance.
