  • Corpas scores twice as Marbella thrash Cordoba B and regain third place in the table

Marbella are a side continuing to go from strength to strength in their pursuit of promotion.

Their thrashing of Cordoba B on Sunday moved them ahead of UCAM Murcia, as their points total rose to 37.

This leaves them a point behind second-placed Extremedura, who they face in their next league fixture, also at home.

Chus Hevia scored an early goal for the home side, Eric Moreno then equalised for the visitors before the quarter hour mark, but two goals from Corpas and one from Añón sealed the win against an excellent Cordoba B who who continued to attack until the last.

Both teams got off to a quick start.

With three goals in 20 minutes, chances at both ends and quickfire attacking play, both sides were rewarding the 500 or so fans who braved the incessent rain.

Within two minutes, Chus Hevia opened the scoring with a volley after good wing play on the left from Ferrón.

Marbella used their wings well with Rioja and Corpas thriving off the excellent distribution of Indiano and Añón.

However, the visitors showed fight and a brilliant move down the right-hand side put Eric Ruiz in through on the Marbella goal, and he slotted the ball neatly past Wilfred.

After some exciting midfield play, an exceptional pass from the left found Corpas perfectly, who managed to restore Marbella's lead after just 20 minutes, tapping the ball in underneath Marco Lavín.

The battle continued. Córdoba came very close to equalising after a defensive error by Marbella, but they quickly cleared the danger.

In the second half, Corpas was unstoppable.

He often found himself in space by virtue of his incredible pace.

He scored his second from around the penalty spot with a wicked left-footed strike.

It seemed that the game was over, but Cordoba B improved after a number of changes and had four clear chances but found keeper Wilfred on the top of his game.

In the penultimate minute, an outstanding cross from Rioja, which Añón fired in from the near post, sealed the win for a triumphant Marbella.
