José González, the man tasked with saving Malaga

The 51-year-old former Malaga player has been without a club since his spell with Chinese side Beijing Gouan came to an end last season.

He is well known by sporting director Manuel Husillos; the pair played together for Gonzálezs hometown club, Cadiz, between 1989 and 1991.

Though González has only overseen at total of 37 games in the top flight, he is best known for saving Granada from relegation on the penultimate match day of the 2015-16 season, after replacing José Ramón Sandoval midway through the campaign.

His first taste of La Liga, however, saw him fired as Albacete boss before they were eventually relegated in 2005.

In between, he enjoyed spells in both the second and third tiers with the likes of Cadiz, Murcia and Cordoba.
