  • Fuengirola Lions' second side sit top of the early league table by virtue of goal difference

The Fuengirola Lions are fielding two sides as they look for success in the Andalusian inline hockey league this season.

Barona Fuengirola and Fuengirola Lions both played two games each on Sunday; the latter started against Malaga, beating them 10-3, followed by a Barona game against Sancti Petri who turned out with fewer players than the minimum required so forfeited the game 0-1.

Later in the evening Barona played against Ceuta Bulldogs and beat them comfortable (16-3) after which the Lions played against Búhos Xauen from Granada in the tightest contest of the day.

Búhos goalkeeper Ignacio Pelayo would prove to be tough opposition after keeping a clean sheet in the previous game. But when the Lions managed to open the scoring, Búhos equalised almost immediately. Youngster Imad Tiouk and captain Carlos Palafox then gifted the side a two-goal lead which was pegged back to 3-2 by Rene Delbouille to make it a nervous finish. However, both Fuengirola teams left with a 100 per cent record, but Barona sit on top of the league by virtue of goal difference.

The next games for the Fuengirola Lions will be in the Liga Sur games on 16 December in Murcia.
