Marbella confirmed their status as the best team in Segunda B IV at home with their seventh win at the Municipal stadium out of eight on Sunday afternoon. The Costa side saw off El Ejido 2012 with two second-half goals which sealed a deserved victory.

Despite a well-matched first half of few chances, Marbella were the better side with a large share of the possession as the visitors sat back and defended in numbers, making it clear that the team to get the first goal in the tie would most likely claim all three points.

Marbella full-back Razvan tried his luck from fully 25 metres but his thunderbolt effort flashed centimetres over the crossbar.

In the second half, Marbella were a lot more buccaneering and within a minute, Corpas fed a delightful ball into the area but no one was able to apply the finishing touch.

The hosts were a lot less forgiving in the 53rd minute when space opened up for Añón on the edge of the area and he fired home the opener without hesitation.

Buoyed by the go-ahead goal, the hosts bagged a second just seven minutes later through Juanfran whose persistence paid off as he rode a number of challenges, including that of the goalkeeper, before tapping into an empty net.

The win propels Marbella into second place, level on points with leaders Cartagena, behind only on goal difference.

The Costa side travel to Melilla for their next game on Sunday (kickoff 12pm).
