The latest round of Liga Sur games took place in Fuengirola at the weekend with hosting team, the Fuengirola Lions, playing three games.
Their first, against Aguilas, started badly with the Murcia side getting off to a strong start, taking a 5-2 lead. However, the Lions soon levelled it up before taking a 7-5 lead into the dying minutes before Aguilas grabbed one back to make it a nervy finish, if nothing else.
In their first afternoon fixture, Fuengirola took on Sevilla, beating them 10-3 - a total which could have been much higher if it weren't for the performance of Alfonso Jerez in the Sevilla goal who faced 34 shots in the first period alone.
The last game of the day was the Lions against Sancti Petri, a game which the Fuengirola team won 11-3 to make them new Liga Sur leaders.
New signing Alex Hughes leads the scoring charts with 11 goals and three assists.
There will be more inline hockey action this Sunday when Fuengirola, who will be fielding two sides (Lions and Barona) return to Andalusian League action.
The games, which will be played at the Los Boliches de Santa Fe rink, begin at 10am. Entrance is free.
