31-year-old South African, Kevin Anderson, was no match for the pace and skill of Spaniard Rafael Nadal on Sunday night and suffered a straight-sets defeat in his first major final.
Nadal, ranked number one in the world, now has an incredible 16 Grand Slam victories to his name, just three fewer than the reigning leader, Roger Federer.
Nadal beat Argentine Juan del Potro in the semi-finals to reach the final on Sunday. Anderson beat Nadal's fellow countryman Pablo Carreño Busta in the other semi-final.
This is Nadal's second Grand Slam victory this year; he also won the French Open in June, his tenth victory in that tournament.
