Marbella remain unbeaten in the league after drawing 0-0 with Cordoba B on Saturday at the Nuevo Arcángel stadium.

It was a tight match from the first whistle, with few chances for either side. In the second half, Marbella began to show some initiative on the ball and managed to formulate several chances, although few troubled Córdobas debutant keeper, Marcos Lavín.

As the first half passed, however, midfielder Luis Rioja came close to inflicting damage on the home side as he made a winding run into the box albeit to no avail. Striker Ferrón also tested the Córdoba goalkeeper; his low and powerful shot was gathered safely by Lavín and the score was kept level.

The Marbella goal was hardly threatened in the first half, however in the second 45 minutes, Córdoba began to put more pressure on the away side. It was goalkeeper Wilfreds stellar performance in between the posts which kept the score line at 0-0 and he put in a standout performance for Marbella with a series of important saves.

Córdoba certainly looked more impressive after the break and this caused Marbella manager, Fernando Estévez, to make several changes in order to claw back some possession and create more chances going forward. Ferról was taken off for Chus Hevia who impressed with a debut goal in Marbellas fixture against Mérida on 19 August and Añón was introduced to the field to replace Narváez. However, despite the changes, the best opportunity of the second half fell to the home side, where two consecutive efforts from David Moreno and Sillero were stopped by an excellent Wilfred.

The game ended with few clean cut chances for either side, and the final result reflected the nature of the game between two well-matched teams.

Marbellas next league fixture is away to Extremadura on Sunday 3 September, where Estévez and his side will hope to return back to winning ways.
