Within hours of the disappointment of losing Pablo Fornals to Villarreal, Malaga stepped up their transfer activity with sporting director Francesc Arnau leaving the Netherlands to head to Italy to sign off the transfer of Emanuel Cecchini.
The midfielder, 20, joins on a five-year deal from Argentinian side Banfield after Malaga scouts monitored his progress over the last few months.
His performances were enough to attract the gaze of Italian sides Inter Milan and Fiorentina. In fact, a move to the latter appeared a certainty but Malaga have taken advantage of the deal falling through.
Having made his debut at just 16, hopes are high for the player who will be a more natural replacement for Fornals than Ignacio Camacho, if Míchel persists with the 4-3-3 system which gave the side so much success at the tail end of the season.
The player has already joined up with his new teammates at their training camp in the Netherlands.
