Figures show signs of recovery in golf tourism sector

  • Golf tourism was one of the sectors that suffered most during the economic crisis

Golf tourism grew on the Costa del Sol by four per cent in 2016 compared with the previous year - a figure which confirms the continuing recovery of a sector which is one of the largest in Andalucía, and one which suffered most during the economic crisis.

The growing support from sponsors has seen a number of professional and amateur tournaments make a reappearance on the calendar in recent months.

The Malaga provincial authority says that golf tourism is worth 400 million euros to the Costa del Sol, with that figure rising to 900 million when secondary spending is taken into account.
