Malaga welcomed the most talented professional BMX bikers from across the globe as the Rubén Alcántara skatepark played host to the latest qualifying event in the Vans sponsored BMX Pro Cup, which kicked off at the Rubén Alcántara skatepark on Thursday last week and came to a head with the final yesterday.
Over the first three days 80 of the world's best 'bikers' battled it out to gain one of the 10 available spots in the final. On Saturday, Malaga's Alejandro Alcojor won a place in the final after his performance in the park, and was joined by Canadian and French bikers Chris James and Maxime Charveron who competed over the same three rounds.
However, after a final that will go down as the best in the competition's history, as contenders provided a series perfectly executed tricks and manoeuvres, judges decided it was illustrious American biker Chase Hawk that should be crowned champion.
The event closed with a speech from Malaga BMX legend and two-times world champion, Rubén Alcántara himself, who thanked all the competitors and fans for attending.
