  • Plaza's side go into the EuroCup decider with confidence after a 74-63 victory in the Basque Country, but Brooks' injury is a concern

Unicaja's 74-63 victory over Bilbao Basket at the Bilbao Arena put Joan Plaza's side in a good frame of mind going into the deciding EuroCup quarter-final contest with Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Unicaja went into half-time 29-28 ahead mainly thanks to Dani Díez. Mumbrú caused Unicaja problems in the second half and led a Bilbao side who refused to lie down. However two three-pointers from Smith and Waczyński at the end of the game sealed the victory for the visitors.

Despite an erroneous start to the game, the Malaga side regrouped and put in a strong collective performance and matched their opponents physically, which will be key if they want to achieve success in the German city.

Díez was the star of the show going forward, as he scored 17 points to get his season back on track after largely disappointing until this point.

Nedović was key in getting the ball forward, whilst Musli's solid defensive performance was also important in installing confidence in the side before the huge clash on Wednesday.

The only downside in the game arrived when Brooks was forced off injured, meaning one of Unicaja's most consistent players this season is now in a race to be fit for the Bayern Munich clash.
