Spain is allowing British residents to drive with their UK licence until 31 October 2021. The previous limit was 30 June. Britain and Spain are trying to reach a long-term deal which may mean those still with a UK permit don't need to take a Spanish test to change their licence.

Post-Brexit rules mean residents need a Spanish permit within six months of arriving but many have not changed yet.

Those who successfully registered with the DGT traffic office before the end of 2020 their intention to swap their UK licence once residency was approved have until December to swap without taking a test.
