Veteran singer Raphael will receive the distinction of 'Hijo Predilecto de Andalucía' (Favourite Son of Andalucía) later this week when the region celebrates Día de Andalucía (Andalucía Day). This was announced on Monday in a tweet by Andalusian president Juanma Moreno.
"It is an honour for me to announce that @RAPHAELartista, a world-class artist from Linares, Andalucía, who is celebrating 60 years as a performer, will be distinguished this year as Favourite Son of #Andalucía. My congratulations on this well-deserved recognition #28F," Moreno wrote on his social network account.
The 77-year-old, who sang hits such as 'Mi Gran Noche', 'Escándalo' and 'Yo soy aquél', will receive the highest possible distinction awarded by the Junta on the occasion of Andalucía Day, 28 February.
The regional government cabinet will approve its award winners in Ronda tomorrow, Tuesday, among which are also those who will receive the Medals of Andalucía.
