Prime minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, is being forced to self-isolate until 24 December after meeting with the French president Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Monday.

The Elysée Palace in France issued a statement Thursday confirming that Macron had tested positive for coronavirus after showing the first symptoms.

Official sources in Spain have said Sánchez will quarantine until Christmas Eve and has suspended his diary for seven days, making a total of ten days elapsed since sharing a stage with the French government head at an event in Paris.

Sánchez, as with others in his government team who attended a Cabinet session on Wednesday, took a diagnostic test and tested negative for the virus.
