  • Meetings with family and friends can be in private homes or outdoors from Phase 1 of Spain's plan to scale down coronavirus restrictions

The Spanish Health minister Salvador Illa said on Saturday that gatherings of up to ten people would be allowed in Phase 1 of the government's plan to scale down coronavirus restrictions.

This phase will come into effect on 11 May in provinces that comply with the conditions set by the government regarding the containment of Covid-19.

Gatherings of family and friends can take place inside a private home or outdoors, as long as health precautions are taken, said the minister on Spain's TVE channel.

Government sources also said on Saturday that from 11 May, bars and restaurants would be able to open their pavement terraces and outdoor dining areas filling them to 50% of their capacity, not 30% as previously announced.
