  • Confirmed Covid-19 deaths passed 20,000 on Saturday, with case figures approaching 200,000, as regions ordered to unify count criteria

The daily statistics reported by the Spanish Health Ministry on Sunday showed 410 new coronavirus-related deaths in the previous 24 hours.

This is significantly fewer than the 565 new coronavirus-related deaths reported on Saturday.

Meanwhile however the ministry is updating figures after the government ordered the different regional health authorities around Spain to use the same criteria to produce their daily case and death statistics.

The total of Covid-19 deaths in Spain has now passed the 20,000 mark (20,453), with the official figures now showing 195,944 confirmed cases of infection and 77,357 recovered patients.
