Figures released by the Health Ministry in Madrid on Tuesday show a continuation in the downward trend in the spread of coronavirus in Spain.
New cases reported between Monday and Tuesday number 3,045, 232 fewer than the previous day's figure. The total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Spain is now at 172,541.
The number of coronavirus-related deaths in the country has now passed the 18,000 mark (18,056), with an increase of 567 in 24 hours. This is 50 more than the figure announced on Monday.
In terms of recoveries, in total 67,504 patients have now been given the all-clear, 2,777 in 24 hours.
"The trend we're observing is good," said the director of the Centro de Alertas Sanitarias, Fernando Simón, who has returned to the daily news conferance after being diagnosed with Covid-19 two weeks ago.
