The Moroccan authorities have shut the border with Spain in Ceuta and Melilla as a preventative measure to protect Morocco from coronavirus.

This latest measure comes after the suspension of all flight connections and maritime movements both to and from Spain.

A government spokesperson commented, "The decision was taken late on Thursday as a precaution against coronavirus."

The Moroccan press has indicated that the border will be closed indefinitely with estimates predicting that it could last for around 15 days.
