According to data provided by Spain's tax office - Agencia Tributaria - there is still a significant pay gap between men's and women's salaries in Malaga. Statistics from 2018 show that men in the province earn 28 per cent more than women.

While according to the statistics the gap is reducing, it has changed little in the last five years; in 2013 the difference was 31 per cent. In 2008 it stood at 39 per cent.

The report also shows that the difference in pay reflects the type of work that both sexes do, with more women working in lower-paid jobs.
