The President of the Andalusian regional government, the Partido Popular's Juanma Moreno, spoke on Wednesday at the Madrid COP25 Climate Conference. He gave details of his plans to combat climate change in Andalucía and invited local businesses to see the green transition as a business opportunity.
As part of his "green revolution", Andalucía will invest 350 million euros in reforestation, green energy, and other projects.
This region, he said, is the most at risk from climate change in Europe.
He encouraged local businesses and entrepreneurs to take advantage of the European Commission's announcement of a one-billion-euro fund until 2030 to support sustainable industries and green energy.
Moreno was speaking alongside several Andalusian activists and entrepreneurs with experience of the fight against climate change. Among them were Malaga-born Manuel Calvo, an arctic explorer and environmental activist, and Javier San Emeterio, of the water access NGO Wells Without Borders.
