The Spanish cancer association AECC has called for all of the country's political parties to commit to guaranteeing end-of-life care to patients in the terminal stage of an illness. Palliative care is a basic human right, says the association, and its availability indicates the level of progress in a society.

To mark World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, celebrated this year on Saturday 12 October, the AECC has urged politicians to complete the parliamentary process to pass the law to guarantee end-of-life dignity for patients.

Cudeca concert

The Cudeca Hospice foundation is marking the day with a special concert, A Night at the Movies, held at the Ciudad de Marbella theatre on Friday 11 October at 9pm. The Malaga Provincial Symphony Orchestra (OSPM), conducted by Pablo Urbina, will perform music from contemporary movie soundtracks, including Star Trek, E.T., Superman and Pirates of the Caribbean, among others. Tickets cost 15 euros and are available at mientrada.net
