The British Ambassador to Spain and representatives from the UK Consulate met with the head of the Andalusian regional government, Juanma Moreno, in Seville on Tuesday.

Simon Manley, accompanied by the consul for Andalucía, Charmaine Arbouin, discussed issues affecting relations with the UK, including in the run up to Brexit.

Among subjects that the British government representatives raised was the difficulty currently faced by UK residents in Andalucía who are not entitled to free healthcare in applying for the special public health insurance scheme in the region, the Convenio Especial. Moreno committed the Junta de Andalucía to resolving the issue.

Moreno, who was accompanied by regional vice-president Juan Marín, also explained recently announced plans for improving the legal status of homes built illegally in rural areas of the Andalucía region.
