Spain's top courts have refused to block the candidacy for the Euro elections of three Catalan leaders who are in self-imposed exile to avoid facing trial on separatist charges.

Former Catalan president, Carles Puigdemont, and his ex-regional ministers, Toni Comín and Clara Ponsatí, can now stand in the 26 May vote.

Both the Supreme Court and Constitutional Court have said that, as they haven't been found guilty of anything, it is not up to them to stop the candidacies.
