  • The sum of the three right-of-centre parties may not be quite enough to oust the Socialist government of Pedro Sánchez

An opinion poll published by pollsters GAD3 this week suggests that the sum of the three right-of-centre parties may not be quite enough to oust the Socialist government of Pedro Sánchez in the forthcoming general election on 28 April.

Sánchez's PSOE would still be the largest party on 131-134 seats but would need to pact with other parties for a 176 absolute majority.

The total of seats for the conservative Partido Popular, far-right newcomers Vox, and centre-right Ciudadanos would not be enough to make 176 either.

The split of the vote on the right showed up this week in tensions between those three parties, which the PSOE has been exploiting.
