The world-famous Sagrada Familia construction site in Barcelona has finally got a building licence 136 years after the basilica was started by renowned architect, Antoní Gaudí.

Although the towers reach up to 150 metres high, until now the city council has never approved plans or asked for taxes, with officials turning a blind eye to what was going on .

Now the church's authorities have promised to pay its yearly licence. However the fate of nearby blocks of flats, which plans specify must be demolished to make way for the building to finish in 2026, is still undecided.
