Relief as Podemos party members say 'OK' to leaders' new home in online vote

  • Pablo Iglesias and Irene Montero face criticism after purchase of 600,000-euro property

There was relief for the two top leaders of left-wing Podemos this week after members voted online that they could keep their jobs.

Pablo Iglesias and Irene Montero, a couple, had faced criticism for buying a 600,000-euro luxury home.

Deciding to end the matter decisively, they had risked their careers by asking members' opinion. In the end, 68 per cent approved, with a record turnout.
