“Users need to know which companies have their details”

The Consumers Union of Andalucía (UCE) believes that the new EU regulation will have taken many business owners by surprise. The president, Jesús Burgos, points out that they were given two years after the regulation was approved on 25 May 2016, to put it into effect, but he says nobody did anything about . However, he is relieved that the new law has come into force because “users need to know which companies have their details”. Burgos warns that as the companies have not left themselves enough time to adapt to the new law, “they will continue to move people's data without their consent,” so he hopes the authorities will take note and fine those that do so. “The good thing is that users will now be able to cancel their data at any time,” he says. /
