Man sentenced for letting his mother die

A 47-year-old man has been given a 15-month suspended prison sentence for letting his mother die in appalling conditions in 2014. The woman, who was suffering from cancer, died through a lack of food and medical care, the sentence said. The case was to go to a jury trial but in the end an agreement was reached after the man, who is from Seville, pleaded guilty. The woman weighed just 25 kilos when she died.
