The minister for the Interior, Juan Ignacio Zoido, has said that recent huge seizures of drugs by the authorities coming into the area around Algeciras and La Línea, next to Gibraltar, are proof that the government has the situation under control.

His visit to the area came after a Guardia Civil union warned that the problem is getting worse and that activity by local criminal families is being organised into “the first drugs cartel in Spain”.
