The head of Oxfam Intermón, the subsidiary of Oxfam International in Spain, wrote to supporters of the charity on Wednesday to express his deep upset over the scandal involving aid workers linked to the British-based organisation.

José María Vera explained that the case had been fully investigated when it happened and those responsible removed. He added that no member of the Spanish team had been involved, explaining that at the time there was a different management and our team wasn't implicated.

The clarification came on the day that Oxfam International's current president , Juan Alberto Fuentes, was held in his native Guatemala in an unrelated corruption case linked to when he was finance minister there.
