Spanish Prime Minster, Mariano Rajoy, met with his British counterpart, Theresa May in Downing Street on Tuesday. It is the first official visit by Rajoy to London since May became prime minister in 2016. Ahead of a working lunch, both leaders praised the strength of the relationship between the two countries and stressed the desire to work together over Brexit.
May also showed her support for Madrid and its handling of the ongoing political crisis in Catalonia, saying she would not recognise a separate Catalan state.
