This Sunday, 21 May, sees the primary elections for the new leader of the PSOE socialist party. Party members will choose between three candidates for the position, which has been vacant since last October. A conference in June will ratify the decision. Taking part in a leadership debate this week were Susana Díaz, president of the Junta de Andalucía, Patxi López, former speaker in parliament and Pedro Sánchez, former party leader. Díaz and Sánchez are the two favourite candidates with opposed visions of the party’s future.
