A controversial bus with anti-transgender messages has been banned from driving around Madrid. Both Madrid city council and local courts have said the publicity covering the bus could incite hate crime and break Spanish criminal law.

The campaign has been organised by ultraconservative group Hazteoír (be heard) and sees the bus plastered with very direct messages including: "If you're born a man, you are a man, if you're a woman, you're still one" as well as explicit references to parts of the anatomy.

Leaders of Hazteoír protested against the move and said they would go to Valencia instead with the bus, however that city's council has said that the group "isn't welcome" there either.
