The wildfire that was declared at noon this Thursday, 15 July, in Gaucín, has already been extinguished.
The blaze broke out on the banks of the Genal river, alongside the road between the Serranía de Ronda town and Manilva.
The mayor of Gaucín, Pedro Godino, said the fire has mainly affected an avocado plantation and locals and the Guardia Civil helped tackle the flames, while waiting for the specialist wildfire-fighting teams to arrive.
Three Infoca helicopters and two groups of forest firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the flames.
"I think we have been lucky, it did not reach a nearby pine forest area," said the town mayor.
