  • The children's fairground attractions will be allowed to operate, from 13 to 17 July, 'to show the town council's support for the sector'

The Fuengirola town council has cancelled the all scheduled events planned for the 2021 annual fair in honour of Nuestra Señora del Carmen de Los Boliches.

This decision was taken "following the recommendations of the Andalusian health authorities", according to statement from the town hall.

The celebrations in the Costa de Sol town normally include a statue of the Virgen del Carmen being carried into the sea, accompanied by a flotilla of boats and spectacular fireworks.

Despite the suspension of planned events, the children's fairground attractions will be allowed to operate from 13 to 17 July, “as a support measure for the amusement sector that has been hit by the health crisis.”

The council has insisted that the attractions must "scrupulously comply" with pandemic control measures and also asked visitors to the town to comply with all the health regulations and recommendations.
