  • El Melillero is awaiting trial for the alleged attack on his ex-girlfriend and her friend in Cártama earlier this year when a corrosive liquid was thrown over the pair

José Arcadio DN, the main suspect in the acid attack on his ex-girlfriend and a friend of hers on 12 January in Cártama, has now been convicted of another crime while he awaits trial.

It is the third case that El Melillero has been tried for while being held in custody.

In the latest court appearance, he was found guilty of participating in a robbery in a villa in Benalmádena, where other members of the gang tied up the owner and put a gun to his wife's head to steal money and jewellery.

The judge handed down a sentence of 21 months in prison for robbery, three months for reckless driving in the getaway car and another three months for driving without a licence.

This sentence is added to the two years in prison he faces, for threatening an employee of a Torremolinos restaurant with a gun and the seven months in prison that were imposed on him in the past February for mistreating a previous partner.

In addition, he remains in custody awaiting trial for the alleged acid attack on Sandra and Cristina.
