Rincón de la Victoria town hall last week renewed its support for the town's branch of Cudeca, the Malaga-based charity that supports people with cancer. A grant of 30,000 euros was presented during a meeting between town hall and Cudeca representatives.
The money forms part of a collaboration agreement between the two entities and will go towards covering Cudeca's services in the town, which include the provision of care at home, for these staying in hospital and with outpatients appointments, as well as rehabilitation.
Thanking the town hall for its support, Aurea Peralta from Cudeca said that the organisation had helped "704 people in Rincón de la Victoria since 1992 and 53 since the beginning of 2021."
Cudeca provides doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers and physiotherapists to help cancer patients.
Rincón's councillor for Social Welfare, Elena Aguilar, thanked Cudeca for the team's "work and courage, especially during the last year".
Aguilar also attended a charity event organised by the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) last week, to launch an awareness raising campaign about the economic problems faced by cancer patients caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
