Four Britons arrested after 200km/h police chase from Mijas to Marbella

A British-registered vehicle that failed to stop when requested by the Guardia Civil in Mijas was involved in a high-speed police chase along the Costa del Sol that finally ended in Marbella.

According to sources, the incident happened last Thursday, 13 May, when the high-powered Audi headed along the A-7, towards Marbella, reaching speeds of more than 200 kilometres per hour.

The incident happened at around 3am when a police patrol in the the Riviera del Sol area detected a suspicious vehicle whose driver ignored the police order to stop and, instead, fled.

A high-speed chase to Marbella followed, where a two National Police units and more than five Local Police vehicles lay in wait.

Eventually, the Audi was found abandoned and the British occupants were located in the Nagüeles area.

All four occupants of the vehicle were arrested but released the following day with the obligation to appear in court to answer for alleged serious disobedience, road safety and resistance charges.

SUR has learned, several of those arrested already have a criminal record.
