  • The group called the emergency services on Sunday night after getting stuck on a steep part of the mountain

Four people had to be rescued on Sunday night after losing their way on the mountainside of La Concha, in the municipality of Istán, behind Marbella. This was the second rescue mission in 24 hours in Malaga province after the Guardia Civil Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group (EREIM) had to go to the aid of a climber in Riogordo on Saturday night.

The emergency services, 112 Andalucía, received a call shortly after 7pm on Sunday informing them that a group of people had got stuck on an especially steep part of the mountain.

Firefighters launched a search operation for the group, which had been split up. They found two of the individuals at 9pm and later evacuated them.

To reach the other two, who were located in an area difficult to access, the firefighters had to call for more rescue equipment.

Finally, the search team lowered the ropes and transported the stranded pair back to their base camp in the early hours of the morning.

None of the evacuees was injured.
