A 54-year-old man died on Thursday night (4 March) after his vehicle overturned on a farm in the Malaga municipality of Sayalonga, according to the 112 Andalucía emergency service control centre.

The accident happened at around 9pm and, apparently, the victim was trapped under the vehicle but the emergency services couldn’t save his life.

He was a resident of Algarrobo and was single. He had been working as a farmer in the Sayalonga area for more than 30 years, on his own farms and those of others. He was well known and loved by the residents of the town.

The mayor, Sagrario Fernández, told SUR of her sadness. “He was a very hard-working person,” she said and offered the condolences of the town hall to his family and friends.

"We do not know what could have happened, it is a path that he used to drive daily to go to the farms," she said.
