  • The commerce and hospitality sectors can open until 9.30pm from tomorrow, Friday, in Malaga city and in the Guadalhorce, La Vega and Axarquía health districts having passed to Covid risk level 2

  • The Costa del Sol is in level 3 and, therefore, bars, restaurants and shops will continue to close early in Benahavís, Benalmádena, Casares, Fuengirola, Estepona, Istán, Manilva, Marbella, Ojén, Mijas and Torremolinos

The commerce and hospitality sectors may open later - until 9.30pm - in Malaga city and across four health districts in the province from Friday, 5 March.

The new easing of Junta de Andalucía's coronavirus restriction measures applies to the health districts of Málaga, Guadalhorce, La Vega and Axarquía, which have been declared at risk level 2 by the public health alerts committee, which met this Thursday.

The decision has been made based on several indicators that assess the status of the pandemic, such as the number of infections per 100,000 inhabitants, the incidence of the disease among people over 65 years of age and the percentage of hospital beds occupied by patients with the coronavirus.

The Costa del Sol district goes to level 3 and therefore, bars, restaurants and shops will continue to close at 6pm in Benahavís, Benalmádena, Casares, Fuengirola, Estepona, Istán, Manilva, Marbella, Ojén, Mijas and Torremolinos.

In the rest of Malaga province, the towns of the Serranía de Ronda health district remain at Level 4, Grade 1, with the exception of Montejaque, which remains at Level 4, Grade 2 and closures at 6pm are also maintained.

The committee will review the data again next Thursday.
