A group of young people taking part in surfing camp in Torre de Benagalbón, on the border with Vélez-Málaga, raised the alarm this Thursday (25 February) after spotting a body tied to a buoy floating just four metres away from the shore.

The manager of a nearby boatyard dragged the body to land, quickly notifying the Local Police and the Guardia Civil.

The grim discovery was made at around 2pm and a large number of officers were sent to the scene to determine the circumstances and cause of death.

Sources have told SUR that it appears to be a man of between 30 and 35 years old, of North Africna origin.

It is not known yet if he is a victim of migrant trafficking in the Mediterranean or some other fate.
